Collection: AQUARIUM FILTERS

Buy Aquarium Filters Online in India

Aquatic Experts India stocks canister, hang-on-back and internal aquarium filters from Seachem, EHEIM, OASE, Aquael and E-Jet, for tanks from about 50 litres up to 1,000 litres. A good filter does three jobs: it removes debris from the water, hosts the beneficial bacteria that break down ammonia and nitrite, and keeps water moving so oxygen reaches the whole tank. Use the guide below to choose by tank size and tank type.

Types of Aquarium Filters

Canister filters sit outside the tank and hold the most filter media, which makes them a good fit for larger or heavily stocked tanks with goldfish, cichlids or Oscars. Options include the Aquael Ultramax 1000, E-Jet 3378, E-Jet 3388 and Dolphin C500.

Hang-on-back (HOB) filters clip onto the tank rim and are easy to open and maintain. The Seachem Tidal series covers tanks from 130 to 400 litres.

Internal filters sit inside the tank and suit small and medium aquariums. See the OASE BioPlus 50, OASE BioPlus 100 and EHEIM Pickup.

Filter Media, Bacteria & Maintenance

A filter is only as good as its media and the bacteria living in it. Browse The Clean Water Series for filter media, and use Life Aayu Bacter Boost Plus to help establish beneficial bacteria in a new tank.

Aquarium Filter FAQs

Which is better: a canister or a hang-on-back filter?
Canisters hold more media and suit bigger or heavily stocked tanks. Hang-on-back filters cost less and are easier to clean, which suits small and medium tanks.

How often should I clean my aquarium filter?
Rinse the media gently in old tank water when the flow drops, often every 3–4 weeks. Avoid tap water, since chlorine can kill the beneficial bacteria, and never replace all the media at once.

Do betta and shrimp tanks need a filter?
Yes, but they need gentle flow. A small internal filter, kept at low flow, is usually the better choice.

Do you ship across India?
Yes, and shipping is free on orders above ₹599. Warranty and after-sales terms are on our warranty policy page.
